Special session at the 2nd ICASH: Prof. Andrew J. Macnab

Introducing the invited speaker Prof. Andrew J. Macnab for the 2nd International Conference on Applied Science and Health.

Dr. Macnab is an innovator and pioneer in the field of Biomedical Near Infrared Spectroscopy.

Currently he is a Professor at Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study, Wallenberg Research Centre, South Africa, and University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

His principal research interest is the application of near infrared spectroscopy, a non-invasive means of measuring tissue oxygenation and hemodynamics using near infrared light, to improve the care of infants, children and adults. A new patented version of this technology has been developed as an adjunct to evaluation and diagnosis in adults with symptoms related to bladder pathology. Other applications include evaluation of muscle physiology in health and disease and research to establish ways of preventing hypoxia (lack of oxygen) and ischemia (inadequate blood flow) in a variety of clinical situations, particularly those involving the brain or spinal cord.

He dedicates himself to improving the care of sick and injured infants and children in need of inter-facility transport (transport by air ambulance from a distant hospital to specialized care). His interests are in the complexities imposed by transport at altitude, the role of paramedics, and the logistics of delivery of prehospital health care services.

In the 2nd ICASH, Prof. Macnab will speak in the special session with topic “Promoting future health: why are our children and what they learn in school so important?”. He focuses to injury prevention and preventive strategies designed to improve the health of children.

We invite experts, practitioners, professionals and students working in Asian countries to share their expertise, experiences, and views in this conference. The works can be reported as original research findings, best practices, review articles, and photo essays.

The participation can be either as Presenter or Non-Presenter. Registering as presenter, the participants can present their original research findings and best practices either in oral or poster sessions, while review article can be included only in oral session. Authors who decide to participate in Poster session are required to only send the ABSTRACT. Either full paper or the abstract should be submitted not later than 25 August 2017 through this link: https://is.gd/ICASH_Submission.
